Thank you for writing this piece. My heart goes out to you and Jen. It is SO hard to let go of a family member. You wrote elegantly. I’m afraid I’ve used up quite a few tissues while reading it. May happiness and pleasant memories help you get past the pain.

Michael, i’m sorry to learn of the death of your beloved Kali. You clearly made the right choice to relieve her suffering, and give her the gentle end that she so deserved. I’ve had to do this 4 times in 30 years of being a pet parent and it never gets easier…but there’s the consolation that my dear friend is no longer suffering. I hope that you and Jen will be consoled by memories of beautiful Kali and the good wishes and caring of your friends.
