New Media

MIT Press has published New Media, 1740-1915, a collection of essays that examine the adoption of new media in historical, social, and cultural contexts. Test: Gleaning, Exchanging and Vernacular Media discusses one such new medium, newspaper and magazine scrapbooking, which apparently arose during the nineteenth century, and its similarities to today's weblogs.
