I was at a loss for words, but then something came to me.
We must never, EVER break up. Ever.
What an ass. No wonder he's single. And this is the kind of jackass that gives lawyers a bad name. Gawker should have left his name on it.
Not to mention, he's missing a key element in his "case," the intent to contract. If she were to spend ten seconds fighting this (which would be ten seconds wasted, IMHO), she should argue that the dinner was a gift, that any intimation she made regarding later dates was not in consideration for his dinner payment, and that she never intended to enter into a quid pro quo agreement.
