Why am I upgrading? Well, overall, the new interface looks cleaner and brighter, and I'll be happy to finally use basenamed URLs. The first URL here is basenamed, the second is not:
http://www.michaeldietsch.com/mt32test/2005/08/is_this_mike_working.html
http://www.michaeldietsch.com/archives/000880.html
The first tells you the year and month in which I posted, and it also gives you a short version of the post title, to help you determine its content. Much more useful. I suspect, also, it's cleaner on the server end, to have archived posts in directories by year and month, rather than all of them lumped into a giant directory named "archives."
I haven't decided yet what to do with my old URLs, but I'll probably leave 'em alone. "Fixing" them will break any inbound links, and even though it might be possible to set up redirect scripts, I don't know if I want to bother.
But the main reason I'm switching to 3.2 because of its new anti-spam features, specifically the feedback system and the ability to automatically trust authenticated commenters. (Authentication, of course, will require TypeKey, but I'd rather require that than a captcha. I hate captchas.)
Oh, and I like playing with new software.
